Our In Vitro Fertilization Laboratory consists of 4 areas.
1 – Dressing room: area in which our patients change to more suitable clothing for follicular aspiration or embryo transfer.
2 – Recovery room: area in which patients rest after follicular aspiration for up to an hour.
3 – Surgery room: area which the follicular aspiration takes place guided by transvaginal ultrasound. It is also used for embryo transfers.
4 - Embryo Harvesting: area in which the aspired oocytes are kept in order to assess them for possible insemination. The harvested embryos remain in this area from 48 hours to 5 days, before being transferred to the mother. It is also an area in which unused embryos are also frozen and stored for an indefinite period of time, for later use.
1 - It is a sterile area.
2 - Consists of an air conditioning system with high efficiency HEPA filters and positive pressure throughout the facility. It also has
aluminum ducts which prevent particle shedding as in other conventional systems.
3 - The four areas are adjacent but have independent systems of air flow systems.
4 - The walls, floors and furniture must be coated or made of washable non-toxic material.
5 – Soap is not used to clean the facility. Daily cleansing is done with sterile water. All work surfaces are sterilized at the end of the day with hydrogen peroxide.
